There’s a bit of a weather watch in Melbourne at the moment and with two of this weekend’s finals at the MCG, the predicted deluge could impact betting.  The favs just keep getting shorter and shorter for the first week of the finals. We have taken a bet of $10,000 on St Kilda at $3.30 to beat the Cats and another $5000 on them with 18.5 start, but that’s very much the exception this week.

We would like to inform you that the Sports Alive site is now back up and running over the internet. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the issues caused via our internet provider's service downtime.  Normally the last AFL round is quiet, but that’s not the case this week and punters have launched into every game.  Collingwood look some risk against Hawthorn after the narrow win last week, but punters don’t share that view and they have been well backed. While in NRL, with Lockyer still out, Brisbane are friendless as they tackle the Warriors across the Tasman on Friday night.

The AFL is dominated this week by short-priced favourites, with a number of teams having injury and health concerns.  In the NRL, competition favourites St George make the trip to chilly Canberra to play the Raiders.  The Raiders have a fantastic home record and the Dragons are coming off a tough game against Manly this week. In Election betting, Labor is still the short-priced favourite, but betting has indicated that punters are not regarding it as a done deal yet.

We are only a little over one week out from polling day, and if the betting is any guide, we are still not 100% sure who will be running the country on Monday week.  The price for Tiger Woods to win the US PGA Championship has blown like the north wind after a dismal performance last week. With most of the field being backed, and claims Tiger is struggling and cannot win, it has made this event one of the best PGA Championships we have ever covered.

In AFL, the biggest betting match of the round is Brisbane and Melbourne. Punters think the Demons can win this one, but there has been a fair bit of support for both sides. The Lions are $1.82 favs. While in NRL, the two form sides of the comp meet this week and Parramatta are the ones punters want, marked at $1.55 to beat the Roosters ($2.55).
